CHILDREN'S THEATRE
Age 7-11
Our children's theatre is a wonderful opportunity for children to explore the world of theatre and the performing arts in a safe and supportive environment. We combine acting, singing, and movement to build performance skills, confidence and social connections all whilst having fun.
YOUTH THEATRE
Age 11-16
Combining acting, signing and movement, our Youth Theatre gives young people the opportunity to explore their creativity and develop their performance skills. With annual performances, young people get to collaboratively devise original shows and showcase their talents as well as develop life skills such as teamwork, confidence and communication.
MUSIC MAKING
Age 7 - 19
Music Making allows young musicians of all abilities to explore their creativity through music, pick up an instrument and start to create and understand making music. Young people will get the chance to explore learning/using instruments, writing lyrics, and creating songs. Young people are supported in collaborating to create original music and work towards exciting performance opportunities to showcase your newfound skills.
YOUTH FORUM
Age 11 - 19
Youth forum gives young people the opportunity to come together to socialise and provides a platform for young people to voice their opinions and ideas to make change to things that are important to them. Youth Forum hosts guest workshops, participates in research and organises events both at Haringey Shed and in the wider community.
SHED MOVES
Age 7-16
Our dance company, Shed Moves allows the young dancers to take on different dance styles, explore the foundations of movement, and gain confidence in their abilities. The diverse range of techniques offered and the opportunity to learn how to create their own choreography provides a brilliant platform for growing their performance skills and confidence.
YOUNG ADULTS CO.
Age 16 - 19
Under One Roof focuses on devising new work, creative writing and a variety of performance styles which allows for exploration of different aspects of theatre. This young adults company provides a great place for young people to explore new ideas, push the boundaries of their creativity and develop their theatrical skills further.
BIG NOISE CHOIR
Age 7-16
Big Noise Choir is our company of singers who develop their musicality and vocal techniques through group sessions. They include fun vocal workshops and learning a variety of songs from different world genres. Alongside their vocal singing, Big Noise Choir also learn sign language to the lyrics and develop their performance skills.
WRITERS ROOM
Age 11-19
Writers Room will focus on exploring different types of writing and development such as script writing, spoken word and poetry. The group explore writing styles, genres and strategies to create unique and personal performance pieces. This session is an opportunity for young people to develop their own ideas, increase their skills and further down the line, bring their ideas to life.
HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES
Haringey Shed offers a variety of performing arts workshops and projects during the school holidays. Projects are different each holiday so please contact us for more details. Just some of our previous projects include: creating a play in a week, spoken word, film making and music production.
RESIDENTIAL
Residential for Young People
Outdoor adventure and performing arts Residential trips are some of the most anticipated events in the Haringey Shed calendar. The residential trips provide fun activities, educational opportunities, and team-building exercises that are designed to help young people develop new skills, build confidence, and make new friends.
KIDSTIME
Kidstime workshops for children and their families aim to help overcome fears and stigma associated with mental illness, in a friendly, supportive and fun environment. Workshops assist families where a parent may be affected by mental ill health.
Kidstime is for all the family – parents, carers, children and young people from 4-18yrs – offering support by: Helping children and young adults make sense of what has happened to their parents in a safe and understandable way
Helping parents to cope with being a parent when stressed by mental health problems
Helping families talk together so that they can better find solutions
The aim of the workshops is to….
Reduce feelings of isolation
Increase confidence by providing a safe environment Provide information and share experiences
Answer questions and explore myths about mental ill health
Workshops take place once a month, in the early evenings.
PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS
Pathways To Success focuses on upskilling volunteers by creating a safe learning environment and opportunities both at Haringey Shed and in the local community. The session provides the space for the participants to gain confidence, network and develop their facilitation skills.
